Canyon Lake is a good place to go for some nice largemouth bass, guadalupe bass, smallmouth bass, striper and white bass. It has lots of vegetation now and timber to hold those big girls.
In tournaments in the last few years, it has taken over 20 pounds to win. The hydrilla is the thickest I have ever seen it and those largemouth are in it good. They also hold on timber so if there's trees or brush piles around, you need to be fishing them. In the spring, summer and fall months, look for schooling striper and whites as they can be pretty thick and feeding ferociously. Another great fish to catch are mean mouths. These are a hybrid variety between a smallmouth and largemouth, a largemouth and Guadalupe bass or a Guadalupe bass and smallmouth bass. I have put clients on some of the biggest on this lake. I normally only target largemouth but the other species we can catch while doing that. So let me know what you'd like to target and we'll go get 'em.
