Decker Lake, or offically Walter E Long, is a power plant that no longer runs it's plant. This is a great place to go for quality largemouth bass as there's lots of cover, especially hydrilla. There are also some big hybrid striper in the lake as well as crappie, catfish and big panfish like bluegill and sunfish. This is a slot limit lake so 14-21 inch bass cannot be kept or put in the livewell at all. Most local tournaments that occur here usually have paper tournaments where you write down the length of the bass which can then be converted to weight to use for tournament results. My trips have caught plenty of the hybrid striper and huge bluegill and crappie so there's always a chance at those too.
The lake has lately been closed though to larger boats that need the ramps to launch as those are out of the water while the level is held low to work on the dam and other areas of the lake like extending the boat ramps. After all this is complete in 2027, I'll be back offereing guide trips there again. Can't wait!
