Stillhouse has been, by far, one of the most productive lakes in the area over the last 26 years. It's about an hour north of Austin but worth the drive. If you like grass, this is your lake. It has rocky areas as well that also produce good fish but usually not the quality the grass provides. There is also a small population of smallmouth bass on Stillhouse so there's a chance to catch a big smallie here as well, the biggest from my boat being 6 pounds. They host weekly night tournaments here and it's not unusual for 3 bass totalling over 20 pounds to win them. In the spring and summer, anyone can catch plenty of bass around the right areas in the grass and they'll even school up really well at times which makes for a great topwater or moving bait bite. Some of those schools in deeper water are sometimes white bass so those can be caught as well.
